A red bishop has taken over our backyard. Doesn't he look like a bird version of Little Red Riding Hood? He has made his home in one of our trees, together with his harem of "boring brown" females. I love looking outside my window and seeing flashes of red in the trees.

Dad's favorite bird in Quito is the vermillion flycatcher which has a similar look. It's redness had an almost neon feel. Dad called it his "bird of promise." I had it put into our stained glass by the front door, along with two of Ecuador's most amazing hummingbirds. So glad you get to enjoy your red "bird of promise."
