this makes me think of 1 Cor. 12 where Paul compares the church to a body with many parts. It also works within society, as evidenced by the garbage workers' strike. "the eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!"...so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it" I pray that the strike can be ended to the satisfaction of all.
Alameda County looked the same a few months ago. I bet there's a "bit" of difference in salary between the union garbage gatherers in Alameda and the Pretoria garbage collectors.
